David Lutz, Evergreen Tahoe Owner

David Lutz: Chef/Owner

David was raised in the San Francisco bay area where he started his cooking career at the age of 16. He moved to New York to attend the Culinary Institute of America for formal training. As a new graduate with big dreams, he moved to Chicago and worked his way through all kitchen stations in many high-end restaurants such as Le Ciel Bleu, Ambria and Marche. After many cold Chicago winters, David returned to the bay area continuing his work in acclaimed California style restaurants such as Postrio and The Lark Creek Inn. David moved to Lake Tahoe in 2003 with his wife and son.


Prior to opening Evergreen he was the Executive Chef for the Tahoe Mountain Club, operating Wild Goose, Schaffer’s Camp and multiple other local venues. Opening his own restaurant has been a dream for many years and Evergreen has allowed that dream to be realized. David likes to focus on local, sustainable seasonal products. His style at Evergreen is simple, letting the natural flavors speak for themselves.



Heather Lutz, Evergreen Tahoe Owner

Heather Lutz: Owner/Hostess/Registered Dietitian

Heather developed a love of food from her large, Italian family who loved to cook, eat and entertain. She met David at work in the kitchen and immediately they bonded over their passion for food. A registered dietitian and a chef are not a common partnership; however, they have both learned from each other how to balance nutrition, fat and flavor to create satisfying, energizing, tasty meals. Heather and David are proud to offer quality food that is affordably priced with the added bonus of healthy menu options.
